The Julius K9 IDC® Front Control Y Belt is an attachable chest pad for the IDC® Powerharness. It easily fits to the front of the harness for extra comfort and safety, and also has a D-Ring which allows front leash attachment.

The IDC® Powerharness is the newer, upgraded, version of our original K9-Powerharness®. Through research and development, the IDC^® Powerharness has been designed to be more comfortable, offer improved security and safety, and allow more attachments like safety lights and saddle bags.

Choosing a harness that has the best lead attachment for your dog depends on your walking needs and how well trained your dog is on leash.

Dog harnesses come in three types of lead attachment:

1. Front leash attachment
2. Back leash attachment
3. Duel-clip front and back attachment

Here at Julius K9 all of our leads have back leash attachment, but with our IDC® Control Y Belt With Front D-Ring attachment you can turn any of our IDC® Powerharness products into a Front leash or Duel-clip harness.

Back Lead Harnesses

Back leash harnesses have the D-ring for leash attachment located at the top of the harness, so leash control is focused on the dog’s back.

This is the most common type of leash attachment as the harness is simple to put on and dogs tend to adapt to this type of leash control quicker.

Pros:

• Harnesses are easier to put on and remove compared to front lead designs.
• Dogs tend to learn leash walking quicker

It is recommended that you hand wash all of our harnesses. In this quick guide we breakdown the best methods of keeping your official JULIUS-K9® dog harness clean and fresh.

Basic washing instructions:

• Hand wash only
• Do not bleach
• Do not iron
• Do not dry clean
• Do not tumble dry

Hand wash cleaning guide:

1. Use a warm, damp cloth to wipe off excess mud.
2. Remove all the hook-and-loop labels from the side of the harness. These should be cleaned separately with a warm damp cloth as tough brushes can scrub off the lettering. This will also allow you to wash away any fur and grim built up on the fasteners.
3. Fill your sink or a tub full of hot water and give the harness a good soaking.
4. Using a brush and washing up liquid start scrubbing away grim and dirt. If your dog has sensitive skin, you could use your dog’s shampoo instead of dish soap to avoid irritation.
5. Thoroughly rinse the harness under warm water to wash out any soap.
6. Leave harnesses to soak in clean, warm water for a few hours.
7. Shake off

Making sure you have the perfect harness for your pet can take some time to research. So once you’ve decided on a suitable harness for your dog it’s important to make sure it’s the right size and is adjusted correctly.

An incorrectly fitted harness can do a lot more harm than good, and getting it fitted properly will help keep your dog safe, comfortable, and under control.

Whatever harness you have bought, reputable manufacturers will include printed illustrations with guidelines instructing how best to successfully fit and adjust their harnesses. However, sometimes these instructions can confuse owners.

Information misleading customers, disguised as expert opinion, is circulating on the Internet about certain dog harness types being unhealthy, while other harnesses are not.

The publishers of this misinformation have based their arguments simply on the movement of a dog’s shoulders without any actual studying or having any real knowledge of dog harnesses and their effects. Due to this lack of research, they have concluded that any harness straps resting above the dog’s shoulder and touching the neckline must interfere with shoulder movement and are therefore “unhealthy”. They go on to claim that any harness that only surrounds the dog’s chest are the “healthy” option.

In these videos and articles, the leading representatives of this opinion recommend specific chest harness brands and attempt to support these claims by amateur footage and untraceable scientific references.
